Parents: Teens Rules And Such?

Filed in: Teen Advice by BakoBiscuit on 02-08-10

What are the rules for your teenager? 13-18 Be specific.
Also what are things you deem punishable for? And what are your punishments?
If you have 18+ kids at home do you have rules for them as well or is it just the kind of thing like help with chores and nothing else.
Also what is it about teens that bothers you the most?
Like things they do, at home or out in public? It also doesn’t have to be just your teen.

Grants For Teen Group?

Filed in: Teen Advice by BakoBiscuit on 02-08-10

We are working with a group in Tanzania, on providing secondary education to 5-20 orphans by providing materials, clothing, tuiton and psychological support. We also plan on creating clubs for the students and sports. Other than Youth Venture, we cannot find a substantial grant that can be received by teens for our cause. Heard of any?

Why Are Teenagers Sarcastic/think That Their Parents Are Stupid? Is There A Way To Avoid This W/my Own Teens?

Filed in: Teen Advice by BakoBiscuit on 02-07-10

My parents were pretty good, but we still argued quite a bit and sometimes I did kind of think that they were stupid. Lol. I don’t have any children now, but I want to be a really good parent when I do, and I was wondering how to keep this from happening. Thank you!

If Michelle Obama Was In The Position Of Sarah Palin With 5 Kids, & A Pregnant Teen On Stage, Would It Be Ok?

Filed in: Teen Advice by BakoBiscuit on 02-07-10

I keep seeing how people think it’s great to see Palin on stage with 5 kids, one with down syndrome and a unwed pregnant teen. If it was Michelle Obama, black, with 5 black kids, one with down syndrome she had at 44 (knowing that it was risky to have a normal child at that age) and a pregnant black daughter unwed. How would we judge them? We would be saying it’s the same black people drama… Just be real! Since this election is not about issues but about personalities, Michelle wouldn’t have so much support because of her skin and backgroung, would she?

Why Do Some Teens Take Their Parents For Granted?

Filed in: Teen Advice by BakoBiscuit on 02-07-10

All of my friends, except one, complain that their parents are mean and just get on their nerves (my friends and I are 15). They get mad because their parents don’t get them what they want all the time or because they get punished. Yesterday, one of my friends told me how his mother grounded him because he was out all night (He stayed out until 6:00am. Curfew is 12:00am). He says she should be allowed to stay out as late as he wants because it’s summer. He was saying his mom is a jerk and he wishes he had a nicer mom.
The only one of my friends who doesn’t complain about her parents is my closest friend, Kahlia. All my other friends say she’s lucky because her parents let her do what she wants and treat her like the adult she is (she actually doesn’t like being called that). The thing is Kahlia’s parents doesn’t care about her. Her parents are almost never home. She tries everything to get their attention, but it doesn’t work. Kahlia once even dressed like a slut (small tube top, small mini-skirt and high-heels), put on a bunch of make-up and jewelry and told her parents she was going to a club (she was really just going to walk around town). She stayed out until 4:30am. Even that didn’t get their attention (and Kahlia never did that again. She said she felt like trash). Nothing she does gets her parents’ attention whether it’s good or bad. My other friends say she should be happy and take advantage of it. My parents care more about Kahlia. They let her stay with us since she’s scared to be by herself late at night. They’re the closest thing Kahlia has to real, caring parents.
Why can’t some teens (or kids) see how lucky they are? My friend Kahlia is miserable and I feel bad for her. When my friend (the one who stayed out until 6:00am) was complaining about his mom, she wanted to scream at him for it and she left.
