Do You Think It’s Okay To Pay Taxes For Welfare For Teen Parents Who Drop Out Of Highschool?

Filed in: Teen Advice by BakoBiscuit on 11-26-09

I don’t think anyone loves doing that, but what is the alternative? At least they are taking care of their kids. If there weren’t welfare, it wouldn’t be the teen parents who would have to support the kids, but other members of their families who didn’t ask for this.

You pay taxes for welfare regardless. Teen parents wouldn’t be given ‘welfare’…..their child may qualify for welfare–in food staples and/or medicaid. I am all for their child being cared for. Further, IF the parents were to receive any assistance, it would ONLY be in the event that they could not get a job. They would need to meet poverty requirements AND show that they have successfully interviewed for jobs. It isn’t a fail proof process, but without this back up plan, the parents wouldn’t be able to feed their child, the child would be taken by the state for neglect, and the child would be cared for with your tax dollars until age 18, unlike the standard care which in 84% of the cases lasts less than 2 years.

Welfare needs to have more criteria to follow in order allow help.
Because my mom was making $10 more than the wlefare cut off, she was denied help.
But yet I see kids wearing the latest threads and their mom’s getting some nice hair-do’s that are cashing in on the welfare…
We just need a tighter system…. but I’d be fine with paying taxes for them if so many other people weren’t taking advantage of it.

As long as we, as a society, have made the declaration that we value even the least among us then yeah it’s incumbent on us to stand by those values even when it’s distasteful.
The question I have is: what’s broken about our society that we have pregnant teenagers in the first place?

well i think it’s better than them starving or being homelss
and it’s not like teen parents really have options or are being lazy
they just made a mistake
but if htey have a job available to them
then they should n’t get welfare
